This is a bit of a weird one. Next wednesday, a community televlivions program is giving 8 minutes to what is collaboration cafe?
I have hosted about 2 cc a month now for 5 years so tacitly I know what it is. But what it is to New Yorkers or to people in the Bronx- I dunno
Here's a general description. But how to customise that to Bronx communities
Each year this century the list of sustainability crises and stuff that's crashing seems to get bigger. Its local communities - lots of them - that take the first hit on sustainability crises- sometimes a community gets completely wiped out, and at minimum innocant human beings seem to get the most hurt. At the same time, out there somewhere there tend to be solutions to most sustainabiloity crises being practised at a local community level. Big media, big organisations hardly ever talk deeply enoughabout such local solutions - let alone how to lay a worldwide game of interlical snap - so people need to stand up and take such a lead.
With that background- cafe is about hosting a small group meeting on one crisis- the people who come may be on very different sides but what they agree on is: there is a crisis here
Collaboration means that we listen to a presentation from another community that appears to have a solution that at least works for it. A successful cafe is one where at least some of the members start testing out the solution to see if it can work locally.
