Comment on: Why people sometimes act meaner online (0)

I am not involved with many online communities. My main activities have been at ONet and they have resulted in many fine contacts with people, both face to face and online. My husband and I recently had a great visit with Meron at Saltspring Island. Last winter we stopped in Elko and visited with Julie Caldwell and saw her Peace Park first hand. Last summer I met Christina when she came through the Bay Area. Two years ago I met up with a group of about 25 Onetters in San Diego for sailing with Tom Munnecke, a barbeque at Barbara's, a great meeting where we all shared our projects and interests. I was able to meet my hero Gabriel Stauring there as well. We have been very involved with Soren Gordhamer as he has developed Zooleo. And participated with Mark re Ned from its beginning. Niny, Gina, Esther,YuenLin,Susan M, & Fenny have all given support to One World Children's Fund. One year at our annual event we gave away Stop Aids bracelets from Lars group;last year they came from LIA.

WOW!!I am surprised by how long the list is as it unfolds. The contacts I made at ONet have enriched my life and given support to the work which is most important to me.

How does this relate to this discussion? My own experience is not of rudeness and sarcasm from people here. Yes, that happens sometimes, but it is not the general rule and focusing on that distracts from the amazing synergistic mindboggling opportunities we have here. Actually, I think a lot of people learned about social interactions by engaging on Onet - where they didn't have to pick up all of the cues and could take some time and space before responding to a comment.
