I am Ewalu Gabriel, Ugandan male aged 26, graduate with an honors degree in Commerce Accounting option from Makerere University Kampala. I am applying to Life in Africa for a position of Chief Accountant.

I am currently employed as an Accountant with Kampala Motors limited. This position entails managing the company’s finances and assets according to the company’s policies. It also involves daily exposure to computer hardware and software, internet facilities among others and besides the position also takes into account debt recovery and stores control. I also gained valuable experience while working with Pride Micro finance as a credit officer, this required client recruitment and training before disbursing loans, constant data entry, daily portfolio monitoring and follow up, record keeping, compliance with policies and procedures and general financial management. I have also handled community donor funded projects under Angelina Dental Services funded by Smile Power Foundation International. With all the above I believe I will do a vital job for the communities under Life in Africa, thus I am the desired candidate for the position.

A majority of people who accessed loan facilities under my care in Pride micro finance have not only managed to expand their businesses but also learnt how to manage their finances and putting priorities in what they do. Examples of such people are; Mugerwa William – kireka, Ssemudu Mustapha – Bweyogerere, SSegujja Edirisa – Kitintale, among others. For the beneficiaries of Angelina Dental Services, I was able to develop a proposal for Micro support Activities (Poultry, Cattle restocking and Maize growing) which is to be funded from July 2008, with a pilot project currently running in Tororo having 400 birds- layers.

Most of the work I have been doing for Angelina Dental Services has been home based with my personal lap top. However, it also involved going to the field to interact with the beneficiaries and internet cafes to email the reports to the funder. Knowing northern Uganda and having once stayed in kireka, I believe I understand the nature of my duties to be. The knowledge of some of the languages of your areas of operation such as Langi, Kumam, Luganda, and Ateso gives me an added advantage. I believe given a guiding hand I will deliver to your expectations.
