Getting an education is difficult enough for any child in sub-Saharan Africa, but particularly so for disabled children. As a keen supporter of AbleChildAfrica, a UK charity supporting disabled children in Uganda and Kenya, I am very pleased to see that the proceeds of this exciting Michezo tournament are going to supporting the educational needs of disabled children in East Africa!
That's very much a Win-Win concept benefitting all children regardless of disability.

Wow David you must be great researcher In one of our plans is to develop the disabled children and encourage them to do drama and paintings i see many on streets here who are nice painters but its not easy to get them in one place as on streets they get some small money so when you get them off to KJT you will be able to provide them help. and market their paintings
But we think about it as we have a guy who is nice paiter able to volunteer with us and train them

Yesterday I was offered 3 or 4 full sets of used kit from someone who was given my name by Ken Hargreaves (Nedsters who are also members of the Boots for a soccer team group on Facebook will have heard of him). Ken offered to do this when he was offered kit for children younger than 14, since he himself is concentrating on the 14-25 age groups.
The snag with yesterday's offer is that the sets of kit appear to be for adults. I'm not sure what to do. I'll probably need to do a 100 mile round trip to collect the kits and sending them to Uganda will cost a bit more than sending kids' kit. Then I'm not sure whether you can make use of it or could swap it for smaller sized kit or sell it cost-effectively.
The door is still open: I can accept the offer or politely decline. It would help to have the views of others - especially from those connected with KJT.

100,000 Ugandan shillings is 30.43 GB pounds is 10 cases of water (I think!).
Wales has plenty of water. (Understatement!)
I think I could raise the funds for the water, given a week or two, when is your deadline Kabugo ?

This is wonderful David I think we do have the use for them since KJT has got mature team which play in the first Division However they can pay something for them if we see that its possible we also have mature fans of KJT who may use them We think we can have them if Possible lets see how it goes for you to secure the offer. I pray hard that you get some one to help you over this. Fred was also telling me the offer from is it Yorkshire is it the one you talk about?

No, the one from Yorkshire is from the junior club Thirsk Falcons that have teams from under 7s up to under 16s. They have promised us kit once they've done a stock take to assess how much kit they no longer need.
The new offer is from a Sunday League team in the Midlands. Many Sunday League teams in the UK represent a local pub. The offer of 3 or 4 sets of kit is from a pub team in a small place in Warwickshire.
It's good to know that you can make good use of the kit even though it is not in children's sizes!
I'll keep you posted with developments.

Another friend has offered support, he is an artist and is making a "Good Luck" card for contributors to the KJT fund to sign if they wish. He has asked me to ask KJT if they can provide larger versions of the photographs on the website for him to work from. Kayiwa does not appear to have been online for the last couple of days, does anyone else have copies of the photographs ?
Thanks :)

I've reached my target for funding to cover the cost of the bottled water, it will be on it's way to Kayiwa very soon. Excuse the metaphor, but it seems like a drop in the ocean when you look at the total needed for KJT to go to the tournament. But I can't commit myself personally to raising any more right now, certainly not in time for the Tournament.
One thing I can do though, Kayiwa, Kabugo and Moses, is offer to help with the website, specifically the wording of the content, I think a few tweaks there might improve the presentation of your case.

Congratulations, Ceris, on your fundraising initiatives!
I agree. It would help us to contribute more to the cause if we knew what - if any - progress is being made in Africa to enable KJT to take part in this years Michezo tournament.
Didn't I see a reference to the team's previous participation in this Cup competition? If so, was that tournament also held in Kenya? And how did the team obtain sufficient funding to play then?
What will happen if KJT fails to raise enough money?

Thanks David for asking, I actually do think that we shall have to take the boys there eventhough we dont correct the full money what we shall do is to take 1 full team then
But this is not what we want David, and now we are making also local fundrising from parents of these boys and we are waiting them to get holidays which starts this week such that we can go around with them to people around asking them for help on streets too.
we think we shall go we still have hope however if we fail then we have to use the money we shall have got to other usefull things on ground for the team like keeping these kids busy over the holidays and they are not Idle. we have to give all the accountabilty.

Great stuff ye good people out there! I guess I'll be there to support Kayiwa's team in person, especially because it's gonna be our WCP team, and I am certain soon Liverpool is just gonna be another bunch of wannabe lads.
Hope Ceris has remembered to secure extra bottles for the cheering squad!

That's great that you'll be there Richard, please cheer very loudly on my behalf!
KJT Wales Supporters (including one from Germany!) have so far donated just over 70 GBPounds.
Kayiwa uploaded some new pics to the KJT Wales Facebook group, including one of the new girls' team looking very smart in their soccer kit :)(Is the kit one of those you arranged to be sent, David?)
I've been busy trying to gather my thoughts, the fruits of which I'm about to post here in this group as a new discussion topic. I'd best go do that then...

Is the kit one of those you arranged to be sent, David?
No, Ceris, it's not. The only set of kit I've sent has been the lime green shirts from St Ives Rangers Junior Team that your friend, the artist, turned into a great design for the KJT Wales Supporters group.
Other sets of kit have been promised but delivery has been delayed: I'm waiting for e-mails to be answered. I've been telling myself that the addressees must be away on holiday. I hope I'm not mistaken.
After the tournament, Richard is going to be very hoarse if he cheers loudly on behalf of us all!
But we will all be relying on him to keep cheering, just the same!
:D

If possible, I'd love to see a budget update: how much is in hand, locally and internationally? then I'll be able to try and figure how i can contribute. maybe coming off the US womens olympic performance there'll be some interest to 'share the love' ;) when will information about this year's cup go live on the site? it seems what is there now is for 2007?).

In his personal news, Kabugo Mansoor has outlined the budget for the club's participation in this international event.
Linda Nowakowski assisted by putting this in the form of a table and I am copying this here:
