Thank you so much Jesca, good start for new year. We also had it in Gulu when our Mum (Evvy) came, we also made some drawing which i will post the reports next week.
The challenges we have were:
- There were no rawing board for the kids, and they were using the floor for drawing,
- Also the Pencils and colour pencils were not enough but they tried.
- Evvy came with some i dear for the drawing board . I tried to look for the material from Gulu but could not get it.
- Is there any where in Kla where it is being sold? Can you try to find how much they sell and get back to me
Thanks for your good post

When Evvy was in Gulu , as per the children programe they were playing and Drawing the pictures. The kids in Gulu at the moment has nothing like Table, and chairs which should have assisted them when drawing pictures
They are using floor as their boards when drawing and there is need for them to have a flat piece of wood which is about 18 inch square to eases their drawing. This will be portable and one deside to stay under a tree while doing his /her work.
BELOW IS A TENTATIVE DRAFT BUDGET FOR A WOODEN PIECE( DRAWING BOARD)
ITEMS........................................QUANTITIES..................RATES.......... ........................AMOUNT
Varnish...................................... 2 Litres ............................20,000/=@............................ 40,000/=
Labour 4 Cuting .......................100 pieces........................1000/= @...............................100,000/=
Board(Soft wood) ......................12 Pcs( 12x1).................18000/=@.............................216,000/=
Transport .......................................................... .................................................................20,000/=
GRAND TOTAL................................................................................................................376,000/=
I HAVE SAID ITS`TENTATIVE DUE TO THE PROBLEM OF FUEL WHICH HAS MADE PRICES TO RISE DUE TO THE COST OF FUEL. THE ISUE OF FUEL IS NOT STABLE UNLESS WHEN SITUATION IN KENYA IS CALM DOWN.
You are free to suppliment:

Hi Rober, its good to hear from you. For us we also don't have chairs and tables but we used some of the benches and tables from the center. So from the idea grand ma evvy gave us of getting drawing boards i think its a good one. Now to get these boards i think we should go to these carpentry stors and tell them to make for us wooden boards of the sizes we want our kinds to use, and find out how much it will coast. Like if we get a group of 4 to 6 kids on one board which means the board has to be enough for them., where by they can share among them selves the drawing materals that have been given to each of them on one board. Here they will also learn how to share. Lets try it.
If these idea i have talked of is not wooking for you then i will have to do what you have asked for.
Be blessed.

Jesca, the pictures are really nice. It was a very nice time for the kids. Thanks to Megan and Aaron who really inspired the children both in Gulu and kampala. They had the real experience with the children and Aaron was very brave to tell the children about his life and how he thinks it's very important for one to go to school and finish it to be okay in future. I for one was so touched to see a 13 year old giving a lecture to the very attentive audience, and I wished we had more times like this to help give hope to our traumatized children especially those from Gulu.
Megan on the other hand was really very resposible talking about herself and telling the children how hard she is going to work to make them known in her school especially.
Not of course forgetting our own Thomas and Lucas ( Christina's Boys)who also joined us in kampala for all the three days, Lucas who was everybody's friend in one day, is still the talk of the village , those who were not part of the program, are feeling jealous for not meeting with him.
These Children really impressed me so much and I pray that we have them again in the near future.

Robert, thanks for your budget input. With this, plus input from Jesca in Kampala and Grace we've been able to decide how much Life in Africa will disburse for this program.
I've laid out some draft program guidelines for the Life4Kids Lunch Club program in a document over here for folks to review: http://lifeinafrica.com/programs /life4kids.htm
This will be used as a guideline between now and end march when we finalize the memorandum of understanding. Any comments til then will be taken into due consideration in finalizing it.

HI,
Thanks for posting this budget. I have a few questions about it.
How many children will be participating?
What are the ingredients (number 4) that you refer to?
Can you give me an example of one meal and what it will include?
Is it possible to get any of the utensils donated?

Grand ma Evvy, it's good to here from you. We are having 100 kids because according to the survey thing we did they are more than 100 kids.
The ingredients are tomatose, onions, curry powder, salt, carrots, green pepar, for the both souce which is meat and beans. For the food it can be rice+posh, rice+irish, rice+potatoes, that is why i said the rice is the main food but will be acampaned with any of the three which is posh or irish potatoes or sweet potatoes on different week ends. An example of one meal and it will include. Rice, Irish potatoes, Meat, Beans, Greens plus fruits.
For the utensils the budget is corved, but if there is any possibility of one donation, it would save this money for other things. Because we are starting this week end,

This is a report from life in Africa kampala on what took place on childerns program during the third term holiday. It took place for three days. Our grand ma Evvy was also around. The children where very happy to see her.
Evvy gave them her word and alot of good promises, like Life in africa U.S.A. is going to be working together with life in Africa where by it will be raising funds for childrens progams as LiA U.S.A, When school begings the kids will be haveing after noon activities with heavy lunch during saturdays, she came with many art materals were by they will use them during the week end programs and she will come back again.
In these three days the children had fun and alot of games, gifts which they won from some of the games and answering questions.
Meghan and Arron came with grand ma Evvyy. They also joined the kids. megahn was busy taking the pictures you are seeing. She said she enjoyed every thing during the program. she also promised to come back.
With Arron he joined the children and enrolled in every program. During the story telling class, he told the kids a nice story about people and the half pig people. the kids did not want the story to end. The children told them their stories too.
And two of Christina's sons Tomas and Lucurs were also there. One of them called Lucurs presented a dance while scotting down which made the children to laugh.
They also had teaching from one of the students from mukono university called Eric Ojobile. He taught them about" commitement leads to Exclence".
It's so good and fun to see these children together having all this on their side and enjoy what life in Africa is doing for them.
We hope to have more next holiday. Have a look at some of the pictures we took when having games and shading.
Christina will help me post more of the photos.
Jesca wassa From LiA kampala. Be blessed.
