---- Original Content from Wed, 29 Aug 2007 11:15:40 PDT ---- A Very Silly Publications Crisis Back in summer of 2006 it seemed very easy to belive we could start an annual 200 - for example the first contributor was Bill Drayton http://www.ned.com/group/ned/file/3.44.11884106443/ and his graceful example had made it clear that all his global academy were wirth a similar guide on - Yunus first of all. So I did something very foolish. I have a rough sample liost of 50 peope and £5000 to a London journalist to get a book proposal out. Unfortunately whiolst he sent out teh sur vey and had got up to great 25 responses designed up to teh same standards as Drayton interveiw above, he then said he wanted an advance of £200000 pounds- which was not my model or any publisher's model he could find. I'd wanted to see the stuff open source everywhere. I still do. I am quite perepared tos acrifice the color design -if network weavers need colour before content then heaven help us. But the 2 problems are how to do this so no one journalist ever closes the market again ; and how to dfind a punlisher who understands that he will only sell m,ore bnooks if all teh content is open souyrce so thohoise thatw ant to network around 1 person's profiles and colaboration wisehes can, whikst CEOs or Bill Gates can have a coffeebook annual atlas that is as biblical in its links as that year colaboration networks around teh world can nominate. Truth is I am a bit stuck on that as I already have £40000 of paid advances on other system chaging books. So I really dont want to finan ce more joyrnalists but I am happy to find ways of sgaring content wiyth thsoe who might. Meanwhile I do intend to host 1000 people devriefing meetin g in London next year as the 85th birthday of dad , 25th reunuin of interent entrepreneurial revolution and 33rd since the trilogu of surveys on Entrepreneurial Revolution begain in The Economist. Ideas on colaboration media and events always welcome. This sis simnply the geratest open search we could all be flowing round the ent or at least the simplest one I acn imagine Look forward to hearing tehre is an evejn more open multyong one. Either way I expect we will need revplutionsise publishing sectors to make the msot of peer to peer use of our content. ---- Edit on Wed, 29 Aug 2007 11:25:41 PDT ---- @@ -2,5 +2,16 @@ +I donty bvelive in my own pride when it comes to sustainability exploration.
