Jeneffer Opoka is a resident of Layibi Go-down (Layibi Division), found in Gulu district -Northern Uganda. She has 3 children and one is in school. The other two are still young and will not go to school for 2 years. She is married and her husband is a retailer in second hand clothes.
Jeneffer had to drop out of school in primary seven because her family had no money for school fees. She was at loose ends after that and so, like many other young girls in her situation, she got married. Her husband was also very poor and their life was hard. But they kept working and her husband was finally able to get a loan to start his business. His business now is doing very well and has even expanded. Jeneffer started a small charcoal business to help out and has been running it for 2 years. This is a good business since over 50% of the population in town must buy charcoal. She now wants to expand this business which will increase the profits earned each month. She and her husband both have experience in taking a little capital and turning it into successful businesses. She will be able to earn 110,000/= each month which will help the family and will allow for them to save.
Jeneffer is now seeking a loan of 250,000 /=U shillings to expand her business. She intends to repay the loan after 6 months with the profits from her business
The details of her business plan are as follows:
