LIA LIQUED SOAP.

The community members gathered for a meeting to select a name that they will brand on the liquid soap product. Many names were mentioned but of all the names that were mentioned, LIA LIQUIED SOAP was the selected name.

Background;

Life in Africa is an organization that has existed for 9 – 10 years now. This organization deals with the community local people. Most of these members were forced to live their homes, properties like land, farms among others by the war that was in the northern Uganda(Gulu).Most of these people came and settled on the land that given to them by the king of the Buganda kingdom. This place they are in is commonly known as the Acholi quarters. When these people were displaced, they had nothing to do for survival. Life in Africa (lia) came up then with its programs of which most of the programs were to train these people on how to make the possible out of the impossible. Through Art and Craft, these members of the lia community (the displaced) started doing a lot of crafts, selling the4m and earning from that. Their lives that seamed full of darkness, started to get light shining through it. Among the things they were doing were, the banana fiber balls, sowing clothes, fruit basket, doll, bottle tops Christmas ornaments, drinking straw mats, the invisible children bra slate, most of all they were making paper beads jewelries, among others. A time came when there was lack of market for all these products. Locally, these crafts were bough but once in a while, and as for the community members still wanted to work, have things made and sold, it was tuff time for them, getting back to their past was what they never wanted but it seamed like it was going to happen, most of these people had never gone to school, had no papers to show for any job so it was had for them to get job. Life in africa is the mother of(gave birth to a) CBO (Community Based Organization).The members thought about what they can come up with to produce and be able to have a great market locally/nationally and internationally. A lot of idea’s come up and finally all agreed to have the liquid soap as the product to be made.

JUSTIFICATION:

This project will benefit these displaced people, the women, widows, the youth. For the women and the widows and the youth are a very vulnerable group as they are being transformed from the touchers /sufferings that they in or faced during the war to have them come back to the normal life, to forget a bout what happened and have a better preparation for their children. This project will do a great role in changing these people and even make them love to get back and resettle on their lands.

Activities of the project;

• Trainings of the beneficiaries, • Locating for the markets for the liquid soap product.

Sustainability of the project;

• The project requires less effort and less training, • The project intends to buy chemicals from any of the three organic chemical companies, • The project will also utilize the resource centers in ministries, companies, universities, hospital, and shopping mall among others for identifying better markets.
