aftre the colaboration cafe tv show on bronx cable tv we were asked to put up a weblog that any colaboratin city could cut and paste theior own concerns searches from - so we've made a start at http://collaborationcafe.blogspo t.com

updates: Sarkozy demands Paris leading business school http://www.hec.fr/hec/eng/news/news-detail.php?cle=74916&num=1213 give students a choice of how to unlearn MBA .. survey debriefs on which other worldwide business schools are participating will appear here http://www.smbaworld.com/id42.ht ml

-surveys of how to collaborate round this in other cities follow here http://www.ned.com/group/network weavers/news/6/10/

2 rather extraordinary things happened while in London week of sept 11: we got a message that Yunus might want us to search London for the 1000 most collaborative and urgent world changers our http://peoplepower.jp nets can muster

whilst hosting a cafe in the Quakers House I was reminded by a participant what happened in 1931 when 1000 networkers met Gandhi

Footnote collaboration cafe process:

I have now hosted 50+ of these cafes http://worldcitizen.tv/_wsn/page 4.html mainly out of London. This year we are offering a fall festival of cafes on 3 consecutive days but we are also wanting to share what we openly learn with hosts/hubs in other cities if we can find any.

Typically a cafe: -takes one hour; is free but if we get full the most contextually passionate are served -in ideal form we spot someone famous is about to visit a city and we send out an invitation : we can't pay you but if you will meet 10 of us for a coffe we'll sarch all our networks for 10 people who most actively want to be your disciples

In effect collaboration cafes reduce 3-days Harrison Owen "open spaces" to one hour by making the invitation and search process as focused as we possibly can.

superscaling yunus cafe

11.00 am wednesday sept 12 at the nightingale cafe balham tube (3 minutes along the road )

Flow 1 Mostofa Zaman - you tell us for a few minutes any conclusions of the research that you did in Dhaka on yunus supporters forums http://muhammadyunus.org/content /view/59/89/lang,en/ this summer; I will bring copies of the questionnaire you sent out across all our collaboration networks

Flow 2 Leading business journalist alan mitchell will briefly discuss why the games rules of transparency auditing and sustainability investment mapping show that yunus is one of the most sustainable and value multiplying service franchises the world of 2007-2012 can connect to; we will explain how 24 years of tracking coordinated by the UK's senior economist connects with this http://entrepreneurialrevolution .blogspot.com/

(we will note the mathematical conflicts with superscaling the pure microcredit franchise http://www.ned.com/group/econo-p olitics/news/8/0/ , and ask whether similar hi-trust problems will apply to any social entrepreneur's interlocal replication)

we will then invite people to ask questions; and we will aim to work out who wants to help or stay in other ways connected with yunus forum London, or what ideas londoners have for collaborating with this;

overall ... what are the main ways yunus asks citizens -and londoners in particular - to help him network now ; any other special interfaces like Yunus' UK trained pop stars ... how to weave what we learn openly to any other city who may wish to collaborate with the same urgency of focus

I was involved at one point with a similar initiative, which has since become Conversation Cafes. See http://www.conversationcafe.org/ I believe I am still one of the moderators of a public discussion list for Conversation Cafes, and would be happy to post an announcement/invitation to that list. Please send it to me in plain text to habib - at - connectexpress.com

I'd also like to encourage you to become a part of Conversation Week 2008, from March 24-30. You can find out more at the Conversation Cafes website listed above.

You may also want to become a part of the Conversation Collaborative -- see http://www.conversationcafe.org/ explore_coll.html

This is an idea that would be fabulous for network weavers.

What would you suggest as next steps?

In a way I need people to ask questions as to any how's that are not obvious - we can share what we have learnt as well as discussions agendas that seem to lead torevolutions, though what flows in one city and what in another is something we'd love to learn from too

Cafes seem to range from very small and deep meets where someone comes out with an idea and is releived even to find 2 other people passionately believe in it too,

to

the original idea track world's most trusted people's diaries ahead of time and when you find they are visiting your city make them a networking offer

BREAKING news: it seems that Yunus has upped the ante on Londoners- he will give us 2 hours if we can get 1000 people same place same time same collaboration flows as his- we are just checking that we did understand the invitation, and whether it applies to any city he is passing through

Back in 1931 the Quakers networked weaved 1000 people round Gandhi so well that people he became connected through life included: Maria Montessori - she visited India and planted what became the best examples of her peer to peer schooling

Albert Einstein - who refereed the value of Gandhi's leadership as the most sustainable he had ever seen. Soon my grandad whose job as head Raj judge in Mumbai had been to imprison Gandhi saw the light and... ended up writing up te legalese for India's Independence.

How can we in London (or any city) play the best games of network snap when Yunus visits us? What's blocking http://peoplepower.jp today? Can we revisit every global market sector and check which are sustaining human futures? For example, what good are global pharma corps if they dont want to invent vacinations that replace costly treatments they are selling?

if you can take disease out of one person you can take it out of 6 billion - its learning how to do it for one that is difficult; if we don't know how to repeat bililion times, what a shame , what have we learnt?

...

I say there is an endless capability of human beings, we can just have no limits;

...

(dont worry about) conventional wisdom, it hides conventional blunders

I was asked elsewhere to give details on collaboration cafe as a faciliation tool - this answer may be of some value as it blends more understanding on where te tool came from and where londoners 1000 most colaborative networkers wish to go to

technique collaboration cafe:

collaboration cafe started with the view that 3-day open space is sandwiched by invitation before the space and what actions network after the space (facebook group on open space http://www.facebook.com/group.ph p?gid=2336949583

the question : if citizens only have 90 minutes and space for a 10 person cafe- can anything world changing be done?

we decided perhaps it could if we essentially focused on invitation and post space action

specifically what if a group of citizens -such as members of http://www.simpol.org on whose management board I served for 2 years - around a city shared their votes on number 1 trusted people in change world - who, what context, and searched when any of these number 1's was visiting the city ahead of time; and made the cheeky offer to this world#1 host - we cant offer you speaker fees but we can search all our networks and find you the 10 people who most want to action your work

so because the invitation has been geared to a world change person, the group is there to Q&A how to practice or network weave with that world changer and the post space opportunities to change the world flow truly

londoners have now done about 50 collaboration cafes http://worldcitizen.tv/_wsn/page 4.html http://www.ned.com/group/network weavers/news/6/ we were surprised a fortnight ago by a bonus meta-collaboration cafe offer; with enough people sharing lists of world's most trusted people and why, we were asked could we help map who the 1000 most collaborative people around London are -ie people ready to team up for urgent system transformations if Muhhamad Yunus has time to give such 1000 people two hours of meeting time

quite how we live up to that my friend/facilitator sofia bustamante is spending night and day working on http://grameen.tv

Collaboration Cafe is being transferred next week to broadway (well actually washington square but what's a few neigbourhood among friends); know anyine in New York who's passionate about any of tehse cafe subjects, please invite the - the more cause passion the better

Date Thursday October 11 11.15 Photosynthesis Cafe (question expert: rick nelson)

12.30 Malaria and community transparency for grassroots health Cafe (question expert: peter burgess)

1.45 Yunus WorldCitizen Challenge Cafe: will your city be first to interact 1000 people meta-collaboration Yunus Forum (question connector: chris macrae)

venue Olive Cafe location: 117 McDougal Street which is close to West 3rd Street just South of Washington Park. --------------------------------- More details- 11.15 is a replay of a cafe in London's festival last month. Rick's photosynthesis architecture and agriculture inventions open up a world of clean energy and clean food abundance. But they conflict with most existing channels and professional interests. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C ToYjQFRxXE we believe he's a classic test case of an open source entrepreneurial revolutionary that citizens could network sustainability around - but will we? Rick aims to respond to Taddy Blecher’s request at CIDA Free University (S. Africa) to open source practical peer to peer curricula for sustainability entrepreneurs and wishes to show that photosynthesis architecture around a slum like Kibera would be a 10 times better carbon reinsurance fund than plant a tree.

12.30 Peter Burgess is a Brit whose retirement projects in New York include end malaria and other transparency networks. After a lifetime spent working in many African countries - sometimes with business and genocide going on side by side - Peter, a chartered accountant, can answer questions on what aspects of empowerment in grassroots communities, global aid seldom reaches. His community intelligence webs: http://immconsortium.org http://tr-ac-net.org

1.45 Londoners have been posed a big question by Muhammad Yunus. Can we survey all our change networks for the 1000 people who would most want to be invited for 2 hours to discuss everyone’s collaboration projects including the social enterprise stock market that http://peoplepower.jp could help emerge. This builds on a London cafe which Mostofa Zaman presented after interning with Yunus in Dhaka this summer on: how can Yunus citizen forums empower maximum change. Yunus has selected the Forum value : "impossible becomes possible if right action, right time, right place, right people". Chris co-authored 1984 netfuture book with his dad, future history leaders editor at The Economist. Death of Distance challenges net generation include mapping 30000 replicable social projects by 2010 http://www.normanmacrae.com/netf uture.html

location nightingale cafe: 193 Balham High Road, Balham London, SW12 9BE ( 3 minutes from balham tube)

let's take a future history check:

1 Future Capitalism: Yunus 2007

2 Future Capitalism : dad in Bangladesh 9world war 2) 1943 at The Economist 1984

3 Future Capitalism - founder of The Economist 1843

Principles stated in 1984 :

  1. globalisation is the biggest system change ever to hit one generation of humanity 1984-2024. If we compound win-win-win global it will be greatest progress for all of humanity starting with the poorest; if we compound lose-lose-lose global , it will end human sustainability. (System changes have had this impact on countless civilisations before but this time we are all interconnected)

2007 Read social abcd extract of yunus on how to debate whether you are doing stuff systemised by lose-lose-lose global or win-win-win global http://www.valuetrue.com/home/ga llery.cfm

  1. Human sustainability will be lost if we only systemise global-down. We need to integrate Entrepreneurial Revolution's 3 forces- the other 2 being community-up sustainability and boundary zero-risks (eg Larry Brilliant systemise no plagues; or alfonso lingis systemise no wars between cultures)

2007 Read extract of yunus on half-developed capitalism and how social actions are a way any 3 people can sustain community goals; and social businesses can integrate the 3-in-one.

yunus 2007 Our job as citizens -which Yunus Forums invite you to celebrate humanity through - is to collaborate around every community-up or zero-risk boundary method- as well as microcredit a recent favourite of Yunus is Bottom of Pyramid eye care hospital and Free University of Blecher. If we truly connect all community-up and side to side projects we will turn capitalism round from exponentially destructing human sustainability

We are not likely to see another nobel economist with the upward momentum of Yunus make this collaboration city invitation in time to save sustainability

last night a collaboration tavern of 20 people in new york including various bankers discussed some of yunus' latest happenings

http://www.arabianbusiness.com/5 16350-grameen-banks-muhammed-yun us-first-nobel-laureate-to-addre ss-an-islamic-finance-forum?ln=e n Bahrain this week: Yunus is headlining the IIFF, which runs in Dubai from April 13-17, and is being held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai. In his first address, Yunus said the consequences of the turmoil in credit markets represented an opportunity for the global finance sector to consider its current rules and regulation."It is a good time to reflect on what a bank is and does," said Yunus, speaking to a packed-audience of delegates in Dubai. "If I were to ask for a billion dollars for a good global cause, there would be a lot of uproar - but a trillion dollars down the drain, everyone off still playing golf, and not a word spoken."

I was talking with someone near the top of one of the most interesting management schools in the USA if not the world and he said you mean you think Dr Yunus would like me to ask if we could help him with content on how to change what MBAs are taught

to which I say : yes I mean that

to which he says: if you think that's what he wants we can definitely try to help him

--so I guess I had better continue ringing round heads of business schools asking if they have any plans to collaborate with France's SMBA lead:

http://www.hec.fr/hec/eng/news/n ews-detail.php?cle=74916&num =1213

on to stuff which in one sense is more at ground level, but perhaps even more fun to do if you feel so- I have been trying to work on http://collaborationcafe.blogspo t.com with the 2 principles:

-a different collaboration theme, which one or more of you have kindly talked about collaborationng on, in each historic month (ie forget the dates and lets use the rest of the free web that a blog structure offers)

-if a city or indeed a subgroup likes some of te themes but not others they can always take the code and start a paralel blog

it needs more work, co-editing, both ooncollaboration topics I havent digested yet and to make it clearer what next steps are on stuff itemised but anyhow here's the menu for starters

http://collaborationcafe.blogspo t.com/2007_12_01_archive.html

dec 2007- can youth poverty be ended in usa and indeed will it be a deciding election agenda - I have borrowed from Darryl's energy on this: I have to say that I dont quite believe Darryl's web will work as is, though with some tweaks it could certainly do something, and of course I'd be most happy to be wrong; if I understand his logic he both wants to transfer current charity giving in usa - if 15% of all charity went to youth in poverty that would fix basic needs if I hear him right as well as expand charity giving. I feel the privacy photos dont really work and that it will be neccessary to partner some of the established childrens charities. But i certainly think the web is an extraordinary demonstrtaion of the issue of being a click away from ending youth poverty, a talking point many action groups could get fired up by- and I congratulate Darryl on getting a 30 minute slot with bronx tv to elaborate on this

http://collaborationcafe.blogspo t.com/2007_11_01_archive.html

nov 07 Africa Transparency Resources- Spencer is volunteering to be inbox for nominations of who cares locally about African countries among your peers. Collab cafe started in NY with the African transparency and end malaria and community impact analysis work of Peter (and Spencer) so I look forward to this section brewing with any flows we can bring. Over in London diaspora networks we have a lot of deep and hopefully synergetic work coordinated by Lesley.

youth actions

http://collaborationcafe.blogspo t.com/2008_01_01_archive.html

here I am hoping that marriah will add in suggestions from his recent mail that sounded briilliant; I am not quite sure which of the focal points he identified are happy to be named in a blog so I havent transferred his post directly but I feel there is a huge momentum around social actions coming from:

*what marriah has suggested

*the dialogues between eg yunus and youth particularly on chapter 11 of his book

*the // social action uni of Bill Clinton - whilst I take quite a lot of the wickets of BC as way above my league, it did seem that a major thrust of his 500 student conference at new orleans was to tell them its ok to ask university staff for help in developing community building outreach

http://collaborationcafe.blogspo t.com/2008_03_01_archive.html

postcards from Dhaka

we have 4 people on this circulation list visiting Dhaka in the next 8 weeks doing work (Rachel already there and alexis from new york and mostofa and mark from london) at either ASA or Grameen and also in touch with BRAC university; we look forward to a few postcards from this most practical and heroic place on ending poverty, building community banks , and as Intel announced earlier this week laboratory for what the www can do in connecting the 3 billion people which the first 20 years of the www has given almost no interactive inclusion to http://news.google.com/news?hl=e n&um=1&tab=wn&q=%2By unus+OR+grameen+OR+BRAC+OR++chow dhury+%2Btelecentre+OR+solutions +OR+telecenter+%2Bgates+OR+intel +OR+cisco++OR+schmidt+OR+google& amp;btnG=Search+News

april

vote for a dvd of the 100 most socially actionable youtube videos on the planet

http://collaborationcafe.blogspo t.com/2008_04_01_archive.html

within reason I am happy to open sponsor the cutting of such a compendium if we can vote in the content

anyhow these are how a sample of ideas are shaping up -and I know its just a first stab to see if a step forward or back -

if your biggest collaboration invitation isnt covered either ask to become an editor of the blog or tell one of the editors what it is

cheers

New collaboration cafe website, and first news of DVD10000

http://www.collaborationcafe.net / would enjoy feedback

recent social action learnings:

after 5 of us spending this week in Dhaka the plans of Muhammad Yunus and Bill Clinton to engage youth during the year 2008/2009 seem to be getting exponentially bigger and more collaborative; coincidentally they also seem to match a big obama speech earler this week on the american priority to get back to loving job creation of a humanly productive kind -what industries like banking and professions like economics once used to truly focus on before globalisation took a wrong turn http://www.normanmacrae.com/netf uture.html

flows around 4 cities that I love seem to have extraordinary opportunities to help youth connect this wave together worldwide:

new york (To List)

london & Dhaka (CC List)

Paris - the western city that has so far done most to advance the collaboration dynamics of future capitalism

we have permission from Dr Yunus to pilot DVD10000 - which 25 video stories of youtuble length could be collected on one dvd and circulated to 10000 youth so as to maximise year long social action debates and share good news of community building and sustainability revolutions that the mass media so seldom covers? http://futuresunited.com

Hey Chris,

That's unfair!!! You posted the same response in two different threads...and you misspelt the word court twice!!!

OK... now when you go to the corner and spank your own bottom... make sure you do it soundly and then write the lines,
