<h1><a class="toc-backref" href="#id2" name="the-skardia-centre">The SKaRDIA Centre</a></h1>
<p>SKaRDIA stands for Southern Kaduna Rural Development in Action and is the Base project that we are working on in Kaduna State.</p>
<p>Ostensibly, SKaRDIA is a skills acquisition centre for adult rural dwellers, where they can learn skills which can allow them to earn a living. These skills are as varied as skills can be, but to give an example, they might be how to run a fishery, how to use irrigation, how to raise pigs effectively. Other types would be how to make shoes, how to make cocoa beverage, how to make soap etc.</p>
<p>In addition to this, support services are gathered around to give access to new technologies, alternative power, business support, access to loan finance etc.</p>
<p>NGOs are also encouraged to use the centre for their own capacity building, as the intention is to run training courses of this ilk - fundraising skills, financial management, Board accountability etc.</p>
