For Ned members not familiar with the work of Ray & Jackie Brosseuk through Partners for Others, an overview of their AMAZING achievements can be found at the beginning of the Unbelievable Donations - 2008 thread.

Right now, Ray and Jackie are in Swaziland (with their 6 kids!) bringing a huge and ambitious set of projects to fruition (and listed here) - start-up projects that will rapidly become sustainable local businesses generating far-reaching and enormous benefits for the entire community they are working with.

One week ago, Meron and the Board of SOLID donated $500 (YAY SOLID!!!) to Swaziland Projects 2008 (through Partners for Others) and since then a Chip-In account has been created to see if the NED Community can at least match SOLID's donation and give the Swazi Community a hand.

Brick by brick - Every dollar REALLY does makes a huge difference!

As anyone reading along will have seen in the Swazi Project list , the Concrete Block Making Business is a real winner!!

Here's a copy of the photo of the Blocks drying in the sun that Jackie posted on the Unbelievable Donations 2008 thread.

As Jackie wrote in the original post:

Hand shoveled sand and crush, wheelbarrow, mix by hand with bags of cement on ground, wheelbarrow, shovel carefully into block makers, shake and tamp by hand, cure in sun, carrying cans of water to sprinkle with periodically...and that's what makes the building dream become a reality. Oh and did I mention these guys are volunteers???

Sensational effort!!

WE'RE HALF-WAY!!!!!!!!!!!

And that $250 USD (1,750 rand) = 25 bags of cement.

Those bags of cement will produce more than 1000 blocks which - when sold - will fetch $750 USD. ($5,000 rand)

Every dollar REALLY makes a difference!!

:)
