Great discussion on collaboration strategies and models today at the Social Entrepreneur Unconference in Portland - http://www.ned.com/group/seeb/ws /collaborationstrategies/. The question we were left wanting to ask of each other and the larger socent space is:

check this out http://ifwerantheworld.com/ I think it's coming off the recent Ted Conference. I like the idea of one statement Twitter style and micro action steps. It's not as easy as it looks to move past intention.

IfWeRanTheWorld...

Why can't I use Internet Explorer? Our bad... :-(

You are probably wondering why you can't use the site with Internet Explorer. That's our bad. We're having some issues with making some of the advanced functionality work on the site. We are however working diligently to make this happen! We will be supporting Internet Explorer 7 and 8. (Sorry, no IE6 support, but there are options!) As soon as it's working you'll be the first to know.

So how can I use it?

Fortunately, there are a few options out there for you!

  • Firefox
  • Chrome
  • Safari
  • Google Chrome Frame

Again, we really apologize and we are on it! Feel free to let us know and get informed through our Support Community.

I just love the concept behind http://ifwerantheworld.com - the site looks to be in early beta, so will look forward to see how it develops.

Just found this today which looks to be richly worth exploring: Robin Good's Collaborative Map of the best online collaboration tools (2009)

I just found this list of social entrepreneur funding resources. It's extensive. http://www.ned.com/group/seeb/ws /social_entrepreneur_funding/

One of the challenges of small non profits, is researching all of these, writing proposals, and trying to find one or two who will fund your work, while at the same time, running the organization that the funding is supposed to support.

That's why I'm trying to "reverse the process".

I don't think I'm the only person in the world who wants to help kids born in poverty to be working in jobs out of poverty when they are adults.

That means, other people who care about this goal ought to be looking for ways to help me, and others like me, while I'm trying to find them.

I've created a map based database and many web sites that enable these people to find me if they do a Google search for the words "tutor mentor" but we need more advertising, and intermediaries who help expand the number of people who do this search with a goal of learning what we do and provide the help they are able to provide.

I've been sharing this idea for many years in a lot of places. The past two weeks it's been discussed on Social Edge at http://www.socialedge.org/discus sions/business-models/maps-and-w hats-possible

For anyone who looks at the long list of social enterprise funders with a sense of frustration like I do, I encourage you to join in with me on discussions that might change the way business is done.

There is over $40 trillion in wealth being transferred from the baby boomer generation to the next over the next 50 years. If we could get just one percent of that wealth to be focused on helping us, based on what our web site says we're trying to do, this could dramatically change the way we are able to do our work.
