I really don't have a thought about the organization's name. Really what I've been thinking about is to keep options open. Publishing is an odd business. My sense is that in actually getting to the making of books a for-profit business may make the most sense.

Cassava Republic is a Nigerian Press and on that page you'll see they call themselves a "social enterprise." Social Enterprises are something that get a lot of discussion here.

At some point it will be good for you guys to register as a CBO. That will be an important first step in getting grant money and also collaborating with non-profits outside Uganda. But those things take some time in getting together, as you outline in your post.

Something that I think is very important to pay attention to is the composition of the Board of Directors of even a CBO.

But the point is to keep things a bit on track in the present term. You will be finishing up your term this semester. When will you graduate? How about others in the project, when will they graduate? I guess I'm wondering if you'll all be around in Kampala? And I ask that in terms of your thinking about sub-counties in Rakai. Where things happen really, it seems to me, depends on where you and the others will be.

There are so many pieces to fit together. Something I hope you understand is that everybody here at Ned understands the importance of keeping life and limb together while we move on with goals. So don't hesitate to talk about ways you imagine making money to live.

One of my big questions is about you. I know that you want to continue your education in water engineering. You can be sure too that many people here are very concerned about water issues and know the need for trained people like you. So my question really is about your relationship to this project of education. It maybe that you'll want to be a part time volunteer or consultant. Figuring out which way to go is hard. Making all sorts of decisions is why leaving school is so hard. We want to help you reach your goals, Kasinja, certainly I do. LOL how to do that is another matter, but at least you should know we are interested.
