<p>I've drafted new text for the <a class="wikipage reference" href="http://www.ned.com/group/wantedads/ws/index/" title="">workspace</a> for the <em>WANTED ADS, OFFERED ADS - Help, Advice, Networking</em> section of Ned.com, to support the discussion area.</p>
<p>The <em>WANTED ADS, OFFERED ADS</em> discussion area has been designated as a place to advertise requests for people to help, requests for people to participate in something, requests for people to offer support, etc., and a place to advertise more of the same that YOU can provide to others. So, to complement the discussion area, I've proposed the <a class="wikipage reference" href="http://www.ned.com/group/wantedads/ws/index/" title="">workspace</a> as a place to list:</p>
<ul class="simple">
<li>links to online sites that post volunteering opportunities</li>
<li>links to online sites that promote volunteering</li>
<li>links to online resources relating to involving volunteers effectively</li>
<li>offline resources relating to volunteering or involving volunteers effectively</li>
<li>links to online sites that post jobs in aid/humanitarian/development-related work</li>
<li>offline resources relating to working in aid/humanitarian/development</li>
<li>links to advocacy-related online resources that provide good networking opportunities</li>
<li>details about organizations and conferences that provide good opportunities for networking around aid/humanitarian/development work, volunteering, advocacy, etc.</li>
</ul>
<p>Ultimately, it's an effort to lead from online activities to online action, and to link new ideas to exisiting organizations and activities.</p>
<p>I've already started the list of links to <em>Volunteer Recruitment - Online Resources</em> and <em>Volunteer Involvement/Management - Online Resources</em>.</p>

<p>People with experience in international development -- short-term volunteers, PeaceCorps veterans, UN workers, business people, PRT veterans, etc. -- are welcomed to participate in discussions at the <a class="reference" href="http://www.aidworkers.net" title="">AidWorkers Network</a>, an all-volunteer forum for people working in development/aid. I've been an online volunteer with the group for a few years now. It's a great place to ask questions, share resources and debate issues relating to aid and development work.</p>
