About

My interests lie in International development especially in Africa and I am a strong believer in Africa developing the way that each individual tribe and / or community want to develop. I believe that the various cultures found across Africa will stand as one of their greatest assets as the continent develops.

My life long passion for children and animals lead to a degree in Marine Biology and a fascination in Africa’s development following a field study trip to Kenya in 1997 and a subsequent year out teaching in East Africa.

On completion of my degree I set up a not for profit organization to raise funds for orphans and street children in Uganda. The objects of the organization have developed from the provision of basic necessities for orphans and street children, to, in the past two years, locally designed development projects which hold a long term vision of creating a sustainable and culturally friendly development process within rural communities.

My journey so far has lead to me spending 9 months in a rural community in Uganda, living the lifestyle lived by members of that community. The aim behind this was to both understand the needs of rural communities in Uganda and to find out from the villagers how they want to develop. Naïve on my inception I was surprised by their opinion of charity work but soon understood their reasoning.

Iam now working on a project researching and designing a process of preparing village communities for income generating projects so the projects can have maximum benefit to communities development.

I am keen to learn from, work with and share with other organisations and individuals working on development orojects in Uganda. I am an adamant believer of working together.
