I am a Distinguished Economist at American University and President of The Free Africa Foundation, both in Washington, DC. I am the author of several books on Africa:
Africa Betrayed (St. Martin's Press, 1992) Africa In Chaos (St. Martin's Press, 1998) Africa Unchained (Palgrave/MacMillan, 2005) Indigenous African Institutions (Transnational Publishers, 2006)
I am originally from Ghana, West Africa, where I got my first degree in Economics and then went to Canada for my post-graduate: M.A. (University of of Western Ontario, London, Canada, 1971) and Ph.D. (Univ. of Manitoba, Winnipeg, Canada, 1981).
I came to the U.S. in 1981
